BEVERLY HILLS
HOMES FOR SALE

OPULENT. GLAMOUROUS. FASHIONABLE.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

Beverly Hills Homes for Sale | Stunning architecture, luxury shopping and palm-tree-lined streets are synonymous with Beverly Hills. The neighborhood boasts posh estates and glamorous glitterati. Many of these homes have graced the silver screen as backdrops to living the good life. Although the name suggests hillside living, most houses are in the flats. Many homes have lushly landscaped yards, oversized sparkling pools and expansive motor courts.

One exception is the hillside area of Trousdale Estates. This enclave is home to some of the city’s most opulent mid-century modern architectural homes. Touted as “A life above it all…” Paul Trousdale developed the area in the 1960s. Trousdale Estates attracted celebrities and socialites alike with unobstructed views of the city below. These residents commissioned well-known twentieth-century architects to design and decorate their homes. Hal Levitt, A. Quincy Jones, Wallace Neff, Richard Neutra, Paul Williams and Lloyd Wright, among them. Ready to make Beverly Hills your home… contact Beyond Shelter to see more Beverly Hills homes for sale.

BEVERLY HILLS MID CENTURY HOUSE BY ARCHITECT ROBERT KENNARD

Beverly Hills Mid Century house by Robert Kennard

For the first time since 2001, the iconic Sommers House is back on the market. This Beverly Hills mid century house is an expression of design that was created in 1954 by the renowned architect Robert Kennard. Kennard was a trailblazer in his own right, standing as a towering figure in the second generation of notable African-American architects, drawing significant inspiration from the legendary Paul Williams. Much like Williams, Kennard was a native of Los Angeles and chose this vibrant city as the birthplace of his architectural firm in 1957. Initially, he dabbled in residential design, demonstrating his mastery over form, space and aesthetics in every project he undertook. From the late 50s to the early 60s, Kennard’s creative genius birthed around 40 residences, each one a testament to his stylistic flair for design.

Meticulously restored by the design firm Marmol Radziner, the home spreads over a generous 3,322 square feet, offering four spacious bedrooms and four luxurious bathrooms. Upon entering, you’re greeted by an open floor plan, the hallmark of Kennard’s design, allowing natural light to flood in through the panels of glass. Wood paneling lines the interior space, lending an unmistakably mid-century feel to the overall design.
