See Mid Century homes for sale and real estate listings below. There’s something special about living in a mid century modern house. Perhaps it’s the open floor plan that encourages togetherness and flexible use of space or the clean lines that create a sense of order, simplicity and functionality. Maybe it’s the way these homes blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living, with large windows and doors that let in plenty of natural light, bringing the best of both worlds into one space. In addition, midcentury homes make use of beautiful natural materials, wood, stone and glass, all coming together to create a stylishly warm and inviting atmosphere.
Through Arts & Architecture’s Case Study Program, John Entenza commissioned architects Richard Neutra, Pierre Koenig and A. Quincy Jones and more to design and build stylish, affordable homes that could be mass-produced for modern living. Many original Case Study homes are still intact and have aged beautifully. Other mid-century modern properties influenced by the modernist movement may be found in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles. Silver Lake, Los Feliz, the Hollywood Hills and the Sunset Strip have beautifully designed mid century homes. In Brentwood, the Crestwood Hills enclave contains notable mid century homes by architects A. Quincy Jones and Whitney R. Smith. These homes are also found south of Mulholland in Encino, Sherman Oaks and Studio City.
